Sony May Have Secured Exclusive Marketing Rights For GTA VI On PS5 Pro

Ahead of Sony's PS5 Pro reveal, rumors suggest they will partner with Rockstar Games for exclusive marketing rights to GTA VI, and plan to heavily feature the game in their promotion of the new console.

Xbox fans, don't panic - the game is still scheduled to launch on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but if Sony secures exclusive marketing rights, it's likely that most promotional content - posters, billboards, future trailers, etc - will contain phrases like "Coming to PlayStation 5", "Captured on PS5" or words to that effect.

Sony are expected to announce the PS5 Pro in the coming days, and may have just teased the design of the new console in their 30th Anniversary artwork. If an agreement is already in place with Rockstar Games, it could explain why we've heard nothing from the developer since the first trailer in December 2023 and makes it more likely we could receive an update soon, even if Rockstar simply add PS5 Pro to the list of expected launch platforms.

Why Does the PS5 Pro Matter?

The PS5 Pro will be the most powerful games console ever made and will therefore run GTA VI with increased performance, most likely at a steady 60 frames per second. This is great for gamers because it will provide...

Smoother Motion: A higher frame rate means more frames are shown per second, resulting in smoother and more fluid motion. This makes fast-paced action, like in games or videos, appear more natural and easier to follow.
Better Responsiveness: In gaming, a higher frame rate improves the responsiveness of controls. With more frames being rendered each second, player inputs (like pressing a button or moving a joystick) are registered faster, creating a more responsive and immersive experience.
Reduced Motion Blur: At 30fps, fast movements can appear more blurry or choppy because fewer frames are shown to represent motion. At 60fps, motion blur is minimized, making details during fast actions much clearer.
Enhanced Visual Clarity: 60fps generally provides sharper and more detailed visuals, especially in dynamic scenes with lots of movement, as there's less visual distortion or tearing.

We all know that PC's are capable of running games on much higher specs than consoles - even the upgraded PS5 Pro, however the game likely won't come to PC until after at least a year of console exclusivity, so gamers wanting to experience Grand Theft Auto VI in the best way possible are likely to snap up a PS5 Pro. Sony will be hoping the lure of GTA VI with all of the bells and whistles will entice gamers from Xbox to their new top of the range console.
