Just curious as I think it's probably one of the least played games in the series. I really like it though. These days you don't even need a GameBoy to play it because there's emulators to run the game on your phone or even in a web browser, but we can't link to those for obvious legal reasons. Definitely worth checking out if you've never played it 👌

I remember playing it on a GBA Emulator a while after it's release and did enjoy it! I remember it being released the same day as San Andreas which probably kept it under the radar from many!

Completely forgot it even existed. I never had a GBA so never played it and only got into emulators around 2010.

Tried to go back to play a bit of GTA 2 for a laugh a couple months ago and it was a bit of a pain in the ass getting the PC version to work.. then realizing it doesn't support controllers without a keybinding app because duh, then like an idiot remembering it's on PSX and then realizing I had to tab out every 5 minutes because there's no in game map lol.

Might give this one a go to scratch that top down itch🙂👍

Do you know if it shares the same map as GTA 3 because that would make shit waaay easier.

It's based on the GTA 3 LC map but all of the streets are square because it's top down. To be honest you don't really notice where you are as you can only really see the road so knowing the layout isn't particularly helpful. There's no map in-game either besides the small radar. If you do play it though, I've been working on a lot of guides including a 100% Checklist and Hidden Packages & Rampages maps / guides.

Oh wow! That's super trippy seeing something so familiar laid out so differently.

Looks like they added a ton to the industrial/dock portion of Portland. I remember being kind of mind blown when I got to play LCS and saw the contruction zone on Staunton before it got torn down.

I gotta give this a look, even if just for a bit of a laugh. Also gotta give Chinatown Wars a look at some point. Cheers! 👍

Gave it a bit of a run, listened to GTA1's radio stations on youtube and played maybe a dozen missions.

Pretty fun for what it is, and I'm sure I would have played it to completion if I owned an Advance back in the day, but it has aged pretty bad 😥. The mini-map and kind of knowing the layout made it a lot easier to get around though, but after a couple hours I just wasn't feeling it. Did like seeing 8-Ball back, visiting Tony's restaurante and thought it was pretty funny that Misty was still hanging out near the hospital lol.

Chinatown Wars on the other hand.. Holy shit!

I'm emulating the PSP version and it's fucking incredible! Wish I would have owned a DS or a PSP back in the day to have played this one.

The  hyper-stylized graphics have aged extremely well and it plays great, the writing is great and reminds me of older GTA games, and I love the neat DS kind of mini-game mechanics for hotwiring cars, finding guns in dumpsters, planting/defusing bombs etc.

Rockstar Leeds did an amazing job with this.

Also the drug dealing mechanic is awesome! As someone who played Dealer and Dealer 2 for hours (knock offs of the old DOS game Drug Wars) on Newgrounds back in the day, it's incredible to see this included in a GTA game -- This is honestly something I want to see implemented in GTAVI.

I always felt that the gang, and low level crime aspect of GTAV was left very unexplored. Grove Street, Ballas and Vagos, etc. they were built into the game, but they never really crossed paths in any major way either in storyline or in the open world. Franklin did a couple of jobs and then he was living in a mansion in the hills, like.. bruh.

I'm also really getting the nostalgia vibes seeing GTAIV's map laid out so similarly but differently at the same time. This is kind of what I thought GTA Advance was going to be like.

And they have a radio station consisting of Anvil, Canadian thrash metal pioneers! Wooooo sheeesh.

Love it! This is one I'm gonna finish for sure. 👍
