Take-Two have confirmed GTA VI has been pushed back to Fall 2025 in their earnings report on May 16th.
In their earnings call on Thursday, May 16th, Take-Two confirmed what they'd hinted at in previous financial reports: that GTA VI is not going to launch in early-2025. Although the game never had an official release date and therefore hasn't been "delayed" as such, it was originally suggested it would launch before April 2025 in Take-Two's Fiscal Year 25; however, the news of another 6 month wait for the game is sure to come with disappointment from fans."Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of calendar 2025 to Fall of calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase."
"Consumer anticipation for the title is unprecedented and our expectations for its commercial input continue to increase."
In a press interview with Variety.com, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick explained they're not prepared to get any more specific than "fall 2025" for the GTA VI release date. "I think we're going to leave it there for now". "That [announcement] will come from Rockstar and be consistent with the way they are marketing the title".
In other words, Rockstar Games are entirely in control of their marketing for GTA VI and Take-Two are happy to go along for the ride. Stay tuned for the latest updates on GTA VI, but personally I don't expect any official updates for a few months yet.
